What is the BenefitsPRO Advisor of the Year award?

BenefitsPRO has honored top advisors within the benefits industry through its Advisor of the Year (previously Broker of the Year) award. BenefitsPRO continues to do so each year by collecting nominations and diligently reviewing the remarkable achievements and industry impact of quality candidates, before shining a spotlight on five finalists and one chosen Advisor of the Year.

Who may apply?

Nominations are open to any advisor or consultant that works within the benefits industry.

What information/data will I need to apply?

The complete nomination form, including all questions and word limits, is available for download here. Please note that this is for preparation purposes only. Final entries must be submitted online, via the nomination portal.

How many nominees can I submit?

There is no limit to the number of candidates that a submitter can nominate.

Can I nominate myself?

Yes. We accept self-nominations, as well as third-party submissions.

I was previously selected as a BenefitsPRO Broker of the Year finalist. Can I apply again this year?

We aim to vary the finalists we profile from year-to-year, so we encourage submitters to nominate individuals who have not previously been recognized. That said, Broker of the Year finalists from two or more years ago may be nominated once again by including updated details that do not mirror accomplishments from previous submissions.

Is there a fee to nominate?

How and when will the 2024 Advisor of the Year finalists be notified of their selection?

Editorial staff will send email notifications to the five Advisor of the Year finalists and their submitters in early March. The 2024 Advisor of the Year will be revealed onstage at the Broker Expo on April 29, 2024. Due to the high volume of nominations that we receive, only those selected will be notified.

How will the 2024 Advisor of the Year finalists and winner be recognized?

The five Advisor of the Year finalists will be interviewed and honored with awards on stage at the annual Broker Expo in Aurora, CO on April 29, 2024. Each finalist will also be photographed and profiled on BenefitsPRO.com in April, and will receive additional recognition on BenefitsPRO's social channels and email newsletters. The 2024 Advisor of the Year will be announced live on stage at the Broker Expo and will receive additional online coverage in May.

What if my nominee assumes a new role with a different company after the submission deadline?

By submitting a nomination, you are agreeing that should your nominee be selected as an Advisor of the Year finalist, BenefitsPRO has the right to include them in the 2024 Advisor of the Year recognition, regardless of whether or not the nominee has changed companies by the time of publication. That said, for accuracy purposes, you may reach out to Ingrid Tunberg regarding a small update to the nominee’s bio, stating that they have since taken on a new role.

How does the judging process work?

Upon the submission deadline, BenefitsPRO’s editorial team carefully reviews each nomination without bias and works diligently to select the industry’s most influential advisors across a variety of backgrounds and expertise. Per editorial policy, we never subject to a pay-to-play judging model. The judges base their decisions on an array of factors and consider each nominee's different accomplishments within their role, through industry contributions, innovations, etc.

How do I increase my chances of being selected?

Be as descriptive, yet concise as possible. Sounds redundant, but it’s simple. Provide details on why you think your nominee should be chosen as Advisor of the Year, but leave out the fluff, like marketing content and self-congratulatory comments. Don’t hide the items of importance within pages of trivialities. Support your entry and statements with backup information — we love facts and figures.
