Speaker Bio
Bret has emerged as one of the most insightful and intriguing people in employee benefits over the course of the last five years, even though his insurance career dates back to 1999. In 2019 he founded Generous Benefits, a consulting firm in Austin, TX. In addition to working with employers, he also spends time as a contributing voice to Q4Intelligence, Karias Health, and was named Employee Benefits News 2018 Technology Advisor of the Year as well as being a finalist for Benefits Pro Broker of the Year in 2018.
His deep insight into the intersection of culture and technology is what sets him apart, especially in an industry he often described as playing catch-up with over 20 years of outdated baggage. He is often credited as being a leading voice and beta-tester for API data exchange testing between technology, payroll, and insurance carries with the Employee Navigator HRIS/Benefits administration software. He is however most proud of his achievements moving the needle forward with his employer and association clients as he helps navigate the changing landscape of viable solutions and partnerships that focus on improving access to healthcare while uncoupling the adverse relationship between wage growth and healthcare expenses.
In addition to his contributions to the above-mentioned companies, he can also be found around the Austin distance running community and playing baseball in the MSBL league for the Austin Astros and Austin Blue Jays.
