Spencer has been a successful consultant for 30+ years, helping mid-market to large national firms add value to their plans while reducing spend for both the Plan Sponsor and the Members.
His approach is to develop a Health Management Strategy for the client using a partially self-funded platform so that the healthcare supply chain can be managed using NextGen and Validation Institute's "point solutions". These solutions are direct,
transparent, and aligned with the Plan Sponsor based on a performance fees or a fixed fees. Using data to fine-tune the solutions and strategies is a clinical approach to improving the health of the population ultimately reducing spend for the Plan Sponsor.
The result is a “Pathway to Free Healthcare” for the Member and smart benefits performing at a high level for the Plan Sponsor.
Spencer earned his Certified Pharmacy Benefit Specialist designation in 2019 to help clients navigate the complex and ever-changing pharmacy space. He is a Senior Vice President and Managing Partner of Insurance Office of America’s Signature Advisory Division. Spencer serves IOA on both the Benefits National Advisory Board and the Regional Georgia Leadership Team.
Recent speaking engagements include the Florida Alliance for Healthcare Value and thINc360- The Healthcare Innovation Company. Spencer has won several awards for his successful healthcare strategies including the Global Gold Medal from Workforce Magazine for his work in Health Management Strategy Development in 2018. He’s also been voted IOA's Employee Benefits Broker of the Year in 2020, Risk & Insurance's Power Broker of The Year Award in 2021, and NextGen Advisor of the Year in 2023. In the fourth quarter of 2023, Spencer co-authored an Amazon Best Seller, Healthcare’s C-Suite Solution.
